Reiki for Animals
Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive healing technique that channels universal energy for healing, growth and transformation. The word “Reiki” is composed of two Japanese Kanji meaning “universal,” or “life force” and “energy”, and is usually translated as “universal life force energy”. Reiki may supplement medical treatment and assist in dealing with stress and emotional trauma by increasing the overall energy stores of the body. Practitioners channel energy through their hands either directly, or from a distance.
Reiki is a wonderful treatment for animals for many reasons. The animal controls the process and accepts the energy in ways that are most comfortable for it. The practitioner simply facilitates the flow of energy, leaving the healing process completely up to the animal. Practitioners of Reiki need only to set the intention for creating a healing space, which the animal may enter as it chooses.
Caren has practiced Reiki since 2001, and became a Reiki Jin Kei Do Master in 2004. She’s shared her practice with Inova Fairfax’s Life with Cancer Program, Arlington Hospital, the horses in Loudoun County’s Therapeutic Riding Program, and with the many animals in her life.
