I was hoping that the Obamas would adopt a dog to be the First Pet, but certain requirements, including that the dog be hypo-allergenic, made it difficult for them to find a dog to adopt. While they were unable to find the right dog to adopt, the new First Pet was part of a re-homing effort! Bo, the Portuguese water dog is now the most famous dog in the US.
