From Lisa LaFontaine at the Washington Humane Society:
Dear Friend of the Washington Humane Society,
I want to personally invite you to walk with me and my dog Lila at our 2010 Humane Society Walk for the Animals! This is the event that thousands of people and dogs look forward to every year!
This will be Lila’s first Walk. Last fall, she was rescued by the Washington Humane Society after her owner abandoned her in a crate. For days she sat in her own waste and when our Humane Law Enforcement officer found her, she had blisters all over her stomach and burns on her paws. Luckily, WHS rescued her in time. Our staff nursed her back to health and I fell in love with her while she was recovering in my home. Lila is just one of thousands of animals WHS rescues each year. Her success story was made possible because of support from WHS friends like you – and I hope you will walk with us to celebrate our achievement!
Please register NOW! The Walk will be held on Saturday, September 25th, on the grounds of the Marie Reed Learning Center in Northwest DC. Each year the Washington Humane Society co-produces this Walk with The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) as a joint program to publicize our efforts to end pet homelessness and our programs to benefit the animals in need.
By registering now, and asking all your friends and family to sponsor your efforts, you can play a very important part in our continuing work to protect animals, find new homes for those who need them, and put an end to pet homelessness.
Our shelter animals need your support. Please show your support for our animals by registering here and starting your very own fundraising web page. The sooner you start fundraising, the more you will be able to raise in support of the animals in need. People always love to give to our Walk, so don’t be shy about asking for support! And don’t forget to ask your friends to join you too! The more the merrier.
In addition to the Walk itself, there will be plenty of activities during the day to entertain dogs and their two-legged friends of all ages. Kids, too, are crazy about the Walk, so be sure to bring along the whole family.
And remember, even if you can’t join us on September 25th, you can still have a virtual team by using our easy-to-manage Walk page. Just click HERE and follow the directions. Or just make a personal donation.
Please help in any way you can!
Don’t have a dog? Of course you can still participate! Many people have found creative ways to include their cats, birds, and other pets without actually bringing them to the event.
Double your pledges! Find out if your company has a matching gift program that will support your efforts and double your gifts to the Walk.
I truly hope you will join us! If you still have questions after going to the Walk website, please call 202-676-2396 or email us at info@humanesocietywalk.org.
Stay tuned for further updates, and……See you in September!
