Excitement Builds for the 5th Annual Fashion for Paws Runway Show Benefiting the Washington Humane Society

WASHINGTON DC— On April 9, 2011, having raised over $1 million dollars for the Washington Humane Society so far, Fashion for Paws (F4P) will put on its 5th annual runway show. For the last four years, the Italian Embassy has played host to this highly anticipated event; however due to the overwhelming support and ever-growing crowd of VIP’s, and fashion and animal lovers, F4P will be infusing the nation’s capital with cutting-edge high-fashion at the National Building Museum this year from 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. with the after-party held at George following the event.

With the exciting move to The National Building Museum, more than 1500 attendees will enjoy an over the top event this year with décor and design created by Syzygy Event Productions. There will be more than 60 VIP seated tables for six at $3,000 a piece and five VVIP tables for 10 alongside the runway priced at $10,000 per table. All VIP tables will be served a three-course meal by sponsor Design Cuisine. In addition, there are 450 VIP seats on the opposite side of the runway with food provided by Teatro Goldoni and Cities restaurants. 700 general attendee tickets in the main section will enjoy appetizers compliments of Lebanese Taverna.

Tysons Galleria retailer’s Saks Fifth AvenueBetsey Johnson, 7 for All MankindKaren MillenAnne FontaineNicole MillerBaslerStuart WeitzmanAnne FontaineAram and more, will present the best of Spring/Summer 2011 on the runway on April 9th as Musical Host, Seyhan Duru, will rock the runway with his musical melodies.  Nuri Yurt of Toka Salon & Spa along with his team of internationally renowned hairstylists will transform each model from fab-to-FABULOUS while Dior completes individual looks to add that extra bit of fierceness with makeup. As for our furry pals, Barkley Square Gourmet Dog Bakery & Boutique as well as WagTime will be creating the “Canine Couture” and making sure each piece keeps with the designs worn by the two-legged models on the runway.  Aba Kwawu of The Aba Agency will be working feverishly behind the scenes organizing the styling of each model and the entire run of show–a challenging task considering that there are more than 65 models and over 10 retailers featured in this year’s show.

As for the models, this year’s fashion show will be featuring 60 notable personalities as models on the runway. However, before they can walk, these notable personalities must participate in a little friendly fundraising competition raising a minimum of $3,000 just to strut down that catwalk. The model that raises the most gets the title (and bragging rights) to “Washingtonian of the Year!” Since launching the 2011 model fundraising campaign on February 3rd, Fashion for Paws has raised over $323,000 (as of March 17th) with the goal of raising $490,000 this year, tickets and tables are almost entirely sold out.

Also taking place, thanks to Top Dog sponsor, vitaminwater zero™, a loyal sponsor of three years, F4P will unveil a five piece vitaminwater zero™ inspired couture collection created by the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) and FIDM’s graduate, Clay Sadler. During the event, live models from THE Artist Agency, posing on pedestals stationed throughout the event space will wear the collection.

This year’s event will be hosted by TV host, style expert, author and TV personality Lawrence Zarian and is Co-Chaired by Amanda Polk and Dr. Dondi Dahlgaard. The Executive Committee is Co-Chaired by Tommy McFly and Wendy Gordon, with Windy Shepard as the Committee Fundraising Chair. The Mistress of Ceremonies will, again, be Pamela Sorensen.

This year’s F4P Runway Show Sponsors include: Syzygy Event Productions, vitaminwater zero™, Digital Lighting, Design Cuisine, MC Dean, Vistage International, KIG, SVEDKA Vodka, Teatro Goldoni, RNDC, Cities Restaurant, UBS Wealth Management, Edge Flowers, Lebanese Taverna, Georgetown Cupcake, Washington Fine Properties, Alliance Interactive, Tysons Galleria, Toka Salon & Spa, Aba Agency, Professional Bartending School, Wigzi, Onemonomedia, Supon Creative, PamelasPunch, Wagtime, Merge Creative Media, Thiero & Associates LLC, Moshe Zusman Photography, Bottega Italian Living, Newcastle Brown Ale, CA Indoor Advertising, Ambhar Tequila, Barkley Square, THE Artist Agency, FIDM, Cointreau Noir, Fresh FM, City Shop Girl, epgPR, Fit to be Tan, Good Printers, and Nemacolin Woodlands Resort!

As the only open-access shelter in the Nation’s Capital, WHS provides comfort and care to nearly 30,000 animals each year through its broad range of programs and services including sheltering, adoption, spay and neuter, CatNiPP, humane law enforcement, lost and found, human–animal therapy programs and humane education in city schools.
